Just something to remember for when you're talking to people who still think Bush can't be beaten...
CBS News is reporting on a poll they conducted with the New York Times. They report that Bush's popularity rating has reached the watermark low of his presidency.
White House officials say they expected the numbers to slide, but the dramatic drop has them troubled. The president's marks on foreign policy have hit new lows (44 percent approval), half of Americans (50 percent) don't have confidence in his ability to handle an international crisis, and a majority (53 percent) now believes the war in Iraq wasn't worth it – a big change from the heady days after the swift defeat of Saddam.

The mood of the nation is shifting: 56 percent now say the country is on the wrong track, a bad trend heading into an election year.

For Bush, perhaps. But a good trend for Dean to win!

While there are some who think that the United States is obsessed with sex and is stridently homophobic, nothing can compare with Muslim attitudes towards homosexuals. Or: how I stopped worrying and learned to support the spread of democracy in the Middle East. Hello, Dean Nation! The incomparable Aziz P. has kindly invited me to post here in addition to my usual perches at Liberals Against Terrorism and Chez Nadezhda . For that, I thank him, and I hope that I do him credit. Like perhaps most readers of this site, I'm not a fan of the Bush Administration. Last year I devoted a goodly portion of my life to ousting it, including a trip to freezing cold Cedar Rapids and Waterloo, Iowa, where I canvassed for the Dean Campaign in the runup to the caucuses. I admit that I lost faith in the Dean movement after that, and I floundered around a bit in trying to figure out who to support, eventually setting upon Johnny Sunshine Edwards (or was it Clark?).
